Passover crept up on me this year and starts this weekend! Sine we aren't traveling this year for Passover, it's now up to me to make everything for the Seder. There are many traditional Passover Seder foods that each play a significant role at the Seder table. My favorite by far has always been charoset.
Charoset is a mixture of apples or dried fruit, nuts, wine, cinnamon, and other spices, charoset is a reminder of the mortar used by the Jews as slaves in the construction of buildings for the Pharoh. There are many recipes and variations. I'm going to show you how to make charoset with Daily Crunch Snacks! Our Cherry Berry Nut Medley has sprouted walnuts, cashews, almonds and dried berried and cherries - PERFECT for charoset and super yummy!
Ingredients:
Instructions:
Chop up the walnuts, cashews and almonds with a chopping knife until they are finely chopped. Place in large bowl. Then chop up the cherries, blueberries and dates and place in bowl with nuts. Take the apples and peel off the skin. Then chop the apples finely as well. Add the grape juice and cinnamon. Mix all the ingredients together.
You now have your charoset complete for your Sedar! Almonds, cherries and blueberries are loaded with antioxidants, which helps protect against oxidative stress (contribute to aging and diseases). Who said you can't have a healthy Seder?! Enjoy!
